ONITSHA—YOUTHS under the aegis of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Anambra State chapter have been advised to distance themselves from politicians that may want to use them for selfish interests.
A lawmaker in the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Anambra East Constituency, Hon. Obinna Emenaka gave the advice when the newly elected leadership of the council led by Mr. Egwuatu Samuel paid him a courtesy call at the House of Assembly complex.
He said: “You should endeavour that no politician will hijack you. Integrity and credibility should be your watchword. You should sustain your burning desire to move your council to greater height”.
Emenaka further advised them to be consistent in their programmes and activities so that they would gain from the good governance and policies of the state governor, Willie Obiano.
“We shall continue to support the youths but I urge you to eschew violence and embrace peace as well as assist in security of the state.”
Speaking earlier, the chairman of the council, Egwuatu Samuel praised Emenaka for the good legislative job he has been doing since he was elected to the House of Assembly.
Samuel said the youths will continue to partner with the lawmaker because he has been carrying the youths along.
“Anambra youths will contribute immensely to making sure that the state regained its past glory. And we shall support you in your your next political ambition,” he said.
