A Chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Charles Udo Udeogaranya has described yesterday’s attack on the senate where the mace was stolen by thugs as the most unfortunate thing to happen to Nigeria’s democratic institution.

Lamenting what he called the degeneration of democratic principles, Udeogaranya said  “this attack on the Senate is the most unfortunate thing to ever happen to our democratic institution since the inception of this Fourth Republic. It is an attack on our democracy and a desecration of the hallowed institution of the National Assembly.

“ This is an attempt to overthrow a branch of the Federal Government of Nigeria by force and it must be treated as such.

“It is an affront on the legislature and  I appeal to the Senate to do all that they can to fish out  the perpetrators  and ensure that this ugly incident should never repeat itself.“
