MD remanded for allegedly forging SON logo

LAGOS—JUSTICE Saliu  Saidu of a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has remanded the Managing Director of Agastorm Limited, Nonso Udoye, in prison custody for allegedly cloning the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SON, logo in a bid to perpetrate fraud.

The defendant was arraigned on a 15-count charge bordering on forgery and counterfeiting of SON production registration logo.

The prosecuting counsel Mrs Amaka Allen-Ngbale told the court Udoye committed the offence at a warehouse on 219, Borno Way, Ebute Metta area of, Lagos.

Allen-Ngbale said the defendant committed the offence on November 7, 2017and that 147 cartons of Nsnows Gas Refrigerants of 12, Cylinders, which had the forged seal of SON, were later discovered by the Standard Organisation of Nigeria, SON officials in his warehouse on January 19, 2018,

She also said that Udoye, without lawful authority forged the production registration seal or mark of SON, with an intent that it may be acted upon as genuine.

According to the prosecutor, the alleged offence is contrary to the provisions of the SON Act of 2015 and Criminal Code Act of 2004.

However, Udoye pleaded not guilty, to the charge preferred against him.

Consequently, Justice Saidu ordered that the defendant should be remanded in prison custody, pending the hearing of his bail application.

The case was adjourned till March 23, for trial.
