AWKA—ANAMBRA State House of Assembly has passed a resolution, urging the state Commissioner of Police and the Inspector- General of Police to fish out the kidnappers of an expatriate worker of A construction firm handling the newly awarded Otuocha/ Ibaji federal road.

The expatriate, whose name was not immediately given, was kidnapped on site and one of the security men attached to him allegedly killed.

Raising the issue under a matter of urgent public importance sponsored by the majority leader, Chief Victor Okoye, during yesterday’s plenary, the House also asked the Commissioner of Police and the Inspector- General of Police “to rescue the expatriate, arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act and punish them accordingly.”

Okoye lamented that “the ugly development had compelled the construction company to discontinue with the project, pending when their abducted colleague was released”.

He also appealed to the IGP to “rescind his decision on withdrawal of arms held by accredited vigilante groups recognised by the Federal Government.”
