Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, South South zone, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to defend the people of Benue State and others in different parts of the country where the citizens are being killed.

President Buhari
CAN South-South Chairman, Archbishop God-Dowell Avwomakpa, made the call, yesterday, when he paid a condolence visit to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State.
Avwomakpa who later visited internally displaced persons camp at Gbajimbato in the state alongside bishops from CAN in South South zone in solidarity with fellow Christians in the state who are affected by herdsmen attacks and killings, discovered that many of the schools in the villages were under lock.
He called on the herdsmen to stop the killings and called for neighborhood watch in all the local government areas in the state and across the country.
Governor Ortom in his response noted that the visit by the clerics from the South-South was an encouragement to the people of the state.
He noted that the South South has a historical relationship with the Middle Belt people, insisting that Benue people will not surrender their land to herdsmen.
