Ahead of 2019 elections, Christian across the country have been charged to join political party and get involved in politicking.

Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor on Religious Matters, Bishop Nmalagu (2nd left) in a handshake with Vice Chairman, Aniocha North Local Government Council, while President, Christian Community in Delta State, Rev. (Dr) Cyril Okonye (2nd right) and others look on during a Prayer Courtesy Call to Aniocha North Local Government Council in Delta State.

The Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor on Religious Matters, Bishop Nmalagu, gave the charge when the Christian Community in Delta State paid a prayer courtesy visit to Warri North Local Government Council.

According to him, belonging to political parties and getting involved in politics is biblical and not against the christian faith.

In a sermon titled ‘Continue in Unity’ he stressed the need for unity among government officials adding that it was the roadmap to success and good governance.

Bishop Nmalagu said that a house divided against itself cannot stand even as he urged them to put God first in every thing.

The President, Christian Community in Delta State, Rev Cyril Okonye, earlier, in his speech said politics is a righteous endeavour.

He said it is the means or art of choosing who becomes and leads the people hence Christians can no longer afford to be indifferent in the schrme of things. “Seating on the fence is the greatest sin. It is your responsibility to decide who becomes.”

“When people are active in politics. Government becomes more responsive. When government knows that people are becoming conscious, good governance will thrive. Christians must get involved in politics. The bible book of James 4: 17 states that he who knows what is right and refuse to do it, sins.”

In his reponse, Warri North Local Government Chairman, Hon Aduge Okorodudu commended the initiative and reiterated the need for continuous drive for God’s word.

He said his expectation is hinged on the believe that the prayers would yield blessings, security and favour for the local government.
