Saraki swears in Victor Umeh

ABUJA—SENATE President, Bukola Saraki, has administered the oath of office on the former national chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Victor Umeh as a Senator in the chamber, before Thursday’ plenary.

Umeh, who represents Anambra Central Senatorial district, took over from Senator Uche Ekwunife and is the first senator to be produced by APGA.

Prior to the swearing in, the lobby of the National Assembly, Hearing Room 2 and the Senate Gallery were filled up with traditional rulers, members of APGA, women of various groups and supporters of the party.

Prominent among those who witnessed the swearing in process were the governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano; the deputy governor, Dr.Nkem Okeke; former National Secretary of APGA, Alhaji Sani Shinkafi; members of the national and State Houses of Assembly; deputy  chairman, Anambra Central Traditional Rulers and the traditional ruler of Akwaeze, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Christopher Ndubuisi Okpala; the traditional ruler of the governor’s Anambra West Senatorial zone, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Anthony Onyekwere who led other traditional rulers, among others.

Victor Umeh won the Anambra Central Senatorial re-run election held last Saturday, just as he defeated 13 other challengers to clinch the Senatorial seat.
