A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Chief Samson Gordons Okomitie, has commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over his handling of the just-concluded national convention, as Chairman of the Planning Committee of the party.

He said the great standard of the election has shown his sterling quality and has positioned him, making no one his match in the state as it concerns the contest for the Asaba Government House in 2019 general elections.

Chief Gordons who is aspiring for the seat of Ughelli South in the Delta State House of Assembly stated this in Abuja shortly after the announcement of Chief Uche Secondus as the chairman, at the just-concluded national convention of the umbrella party at the Eagle Square.

According to the politician, Governor Okowa, has shown to the world his moral and intellectual capacity to lead and manage human diversities for the betterment of all, noting, such was his strength in his frugal management of the commonwealth of the people of the oil-rich state which made the citizens suffer less hardship associated with economic recession that engulfed the entire country since 2015.

Okowa, he noted is a “hard nut” to crack for the opposition in the state, which was why the All Progressives Congress, APC is not existing in the state, adding the broom party has nothing to oppose because the governor does it right particularly his leadership style which he added can’t be impugned by those he described as “gullible enemies of good governance.”

The governor, he further averred has performed creditably well to earn him a second term ticket on a platter of gold noting that Okowa has redefined humility and selflessness in his service to humanity “as we Deltans are living testimonies to his superlative service just like we witnessed at the convention.”

The 2017 national convention of the country’s main opposition he said will stand in history as the best in the life of the ‘Africa’s’ largest political party owing to what he described as the credibility of the Planning Committee, led by the governor, saying it was so because the medical doctor – turned governor believes in excellency of ideas and not given to frivolities which he noted accounted for the transparency and general acceptability of the outcome of the convention.

He further stated that no amount of political conspiracy against the governor can swing the minds of the citizens against him at the polls adding that the PDP turn coats who are parading themselves as leaders of APC lack the character and savvy to lead a heterogeneous state like Delta saying they fell out of the PDP in the state because they could not stand the demands of good governance and moral probity.

He called on Deltans to rally round the governor in their support to enable him accomplish his developmental targets he had set for himself noting that it was difficult satisfying everyone at a time but assured that Governor Okowa was equal to the task of providing the dividends of democracy to all citizens at the fullness of his 8-year tenure when his mandate shall be renewed come 2019.

The House of Assembly hopeful added that when elected by the people of Ughelli South in 2019, he will open his Urhobo speaking peoples’ eyes to quality representation noting that he was in the race to rescue his people from the scourge of poor and underrepresentation lamenting the backwardness of the people of Ughelli South stressing that it was not impossible developing material and human resources in the area.

“My people need sound representation because those who had represented them and still representing them are agents of backwardness, underdevelopment and only representing themselves and cronies at the detriment of the good of the larger population.

“Most communities in Ughelli South particularly the riverine areas of the local government have no access roads over the years due mainly to the fact that the so-called representatives do not find it worthy to call the attention of the administration to it rather they stay aloof while others make case for their people.
