… Threatens to sack DPR staff

EVEN with Federal Government’s efforts to cushion the effect of petrol scarcity across the nation, Oando filling station at Jakande had refused to sell to customers, despite having about 34, 000 litres of fuel in the station.?

During an inspection of filling stations in Lagos, the Assistant Director, Retail Outlets Monitoring, Downstream Division, DPR, Mrs Ijeoma Otti-Onyeri, the leader of the team ordered Olawale Mojeed, the supervisor on duty to open the station to motorists.

When the supervisor refused to obey, the Assistant Director ordered her team to seal the station. Mr Rasak Fakorede, the owner of station came out from hiding with five Mobile Policemen and some hoodlums, threatened to beat and make sure some of the officials of DPR on inspection were sacked, if they sealed his station for hoarding fuel.

The dealer also ordered his workers to beat some motorists who were praising DPR  for job well done. However, Otti-Onyeri said the owner of the station would be invited by DPR to account for his action.

The monitoring team of DPR also visited five filling stations along Lekki-Ajah road. They include Mobil Filling Station in Oluniyi Olumide in Lekki Sandfill, Forte Oil and Petrolcam stations in Lekki. Others are Oando and World oil stations in Jakande.

At Mobil station, the manager who did not give his name said the station had opening stock of 102,000 litres of petrol, adding that they had daily sales of 45,000.

He said the station was expecting another 45,000 litres of petrol before the end of the day. At Forte Oil station in Lekki, Otti-Onyeri ordered the station manager to start selling the product after discovering that the station was hoarding about 4,500 litres in his underground tanks. The manager complied.

At Petrocam station in Lekki, Mr Tayo Adeleke said they had opening stock of 60,000 litres and another 60,000 litres of petrol had just been added to the stock.

At World Oil filling station, Otti-Onyeri ordered sealing of a nozzle that was under dispensing motorists while two nozzles were sealed in Oando filling station in Jakande.
