WARRI—SURVEYORS in Delta state will from January next year practice under new guidelines aimed at checking sharp practices to protect affected public in the state.
At a briefing yesterday in Warri, Delta state, to sensitise the people on the aims of the expected “New Guidelines on Cadastral Survey Practice in Delta state, the body said the new rules would also spell uniform price regime for survey practice in the state.
Abraham Umukoro, Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Surveyors, Delta chapter, stated that, “To control proliferation of fake survey plans, we have developed customized papers giving every surveyor approved to practice a unique identity allotted for production of survey plans.
“To check cases where clients have met financial obligations with the surveyor and still have to suffer prolong wait before registration/lodgment of his or her plan, the new system guarantees immediate lodgment prior to production of certified true copies.
“Through the new guidelines, the institution hopes to bring sanity into survey profession in Delta. We will be able to penalise erring members involved in sharp practices and vigorously chase quackery and it’s associated dangers out of the business among other objectives.”
