ENUGU—COMMISSIONER of Police in Enugu State, Mr Mohammed Danmallam, has urged members of the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, to do more in volunteering intelligence information on criminals in the state.
Danmallam made the call while flagging off the multi-purpose secretariat of the PCRC, Enugu State Police Command, at the police headquarters, Enugu.
He noted that although Enugu remained one of the safest states in the country, there was need for the command to be ahead of miscreants and hoodlums.
“I must appreciate you people on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, for all the support you have been giving to the command and its divisional police headquarters in the state.
“As well, this special project of a multi-purpose secretariat would definitely add value to the command and to the lives of its officers and men.
“However, we want you people to do more in terms of volunteering intelligence information on criminals and their syndicates in your localities; which will help the command nip crime in the bud and be far ahead of these miscreants,” he said.
The commissioner said that the multi-purpose secretariat, when completed, would open a new vista of relationship between police officers and members of the public.
“We look forward to a more robust partnership with the PCRC as well as assuring you people of the command’s support to see to the completion of this multi-purpose secretariat,” he assured.
Earlier, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said that the PCRC multi-purpose Secretariat would be the first of its kind in the country.
