PEOPLES PEOPLES  Democratic Party, PDP, stakeholders in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State have honoured the immediate past Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area, LGA, Mr. Fred Ofume, even as they declared support for the re-election of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in 2019.

Operating on the aegis of the “Bridge Builders”, they commended both Governor Okowa and Ofume for their efforts at bringing development to the area Speaking at the ceremony held at the residence of the convener of the group, Mr. Peter Idion, which was attended by no fewer than 3,000 members and other pressure groups within the PDP family in the area, the Chairman of the group,

Mr. Chuks Emuebie said the reception organized in honour of Ofume was in appreciation of his contributions to the growth and development of the local government during his tenure in office and to formally welcome him into the group.While urging Ofume to sustain his contributions for societal growth and development, Emuebie disclosed that the members of the Bridge Builders were committed towards overwhelming victory for Governor Okowa in the 2019 gubernatorial election.

Also speaking, a chieftain of the PDP in the state, Sir Tony Obuh who called on Deltans to support Governor Okowa’s SMART Agenda, applauded the Bridge Builders for their initiative at the grassroots level, adding that they should to take their support a step further by reaching out to friends, relatives, neighbours and colleagues, even as he appealed to them not to be deceived by unscrupulous elements who, according to him, are hell bent on tarnishing the image of the governor through cheap blackmail, falsehood, propaganda and outright lies.Responding, Hon. Ofume expressed gratitude to members of the Bridge Builders for the honour done him, acknowledging the fact that this was the first time in the history of the local government that an outgoing council chairman would be so honoured.
