ABA- Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has ordered contractors handling road rehabilitation works in the state to return to site and complete the projects.
The governor insisted that the order must be carried out without delay since the rains have reduced.
Ikpeazu, in a state signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Onyebuchi Ememanka, stated that work on Aba Owerri and MCC – SAMEK road projects, must be completed by December 2017.
“Contractors who sent in bids for the rehabilitation of Uratta, Osusu, Omuma and Udeagbala roads in Aba to requested to meet with the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Abia State and the Special Adviser on Project Implementation and Monitoring, Rt. Hon. Eziuche Ubani before the 24th of October 2017.”
Meanwhile, business owners along Faulks road, Aba, which leads to the Ariaria International Market, have cried out over the slow pace of work on the ongoing rehabilitation of the road, and urged the contractors to sit up.
A dealer of marble and tiles, Mr. Damian Chieme , commended the contractors for the quality of the job done but expressed dissatisfaction on the pace of work which has gone beyond Boys Technical College.
A cross section of shop owners who spoke to Vanguard lamented that the slow pace of work on the road had adversely affected their businesses as customers can no longer access the area.
