Lagos State Government has warned residents who are in the habit of sending false messages and calls to the emergency call centre through the toll free numbers 112/767 and the social networks to desist henceforth, as necessary disciplinary action awaits anyone caught in the act.
Meantime, as part of measures to further ensure protection of live and property, Lagos State Government, through State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, has embarked on advocacy campaign across the three senatorial districts of the state to enlighten resident on the significance of the emergency toll free number, 112/767 for distress calls.
The General Manager, LASEMA, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, who led a team of the agency and media on sensitization road show to Alimosho and Badagry Local Government Areas in the West Senatorial District, recently, expressed readiness of Governor Ambode’s administration to ensure adequate and timely response to any form of emergency/security incidents in any part of the state.
Tiamiyu, while urging residents to desist from fake calls, stressed that such action was capable of causing confusion, panic and unnecessary tension across the state.
Also, urging parents and guardians to monitor their children on the usage of the emergency toll free numbers and social networks, LASEMA boss, stressed that the toll free numbers were strictly for emergency purposes and should be activated only in distress situations.
