Coach Gernot Rohr has stressed the importance of “real wingers” Victor Moses and Moses Simon to the Super Eagles, while also praising young players like Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho for coming through in the country’s team.
Rohr revealed these when he discussed his team’s tactics in a television interview.
He disclosed that he prefers the 4-2-3-1 formation, but he is also flexible to play 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 because if you don’t do so you will be very predictable for opponents to counter you.
In all his favoured formations, Rohr plays with wingers and that explains the importance of Victor Moses and Moses Simon in his Eagles.
“The two Moses are wingers and they are very interesting for our game,” he remarked.
“They are two real wingers and they are very quick.”
Rohr also said he is delighted with the young players who have come through in all departments of his team.
“(William Troost) Ekong, Shehu, Tyronne (Ebuehi) and Ola Aina are doing well in defence,” he said.
“In midfield we have Mikel Agu and Ndidi to work with experienced players like Mikel and Onazi.
“And in attack, there is Alex Iwobi and Iheanacho, who will now have the experienced and intelligent Ighalo.”
