Chairman of the new executive, Fancy and Furniture Dealers Association, FFDA, Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos, Mr. Ernest Okonkwo (aka A1), says his team will work to reunite the traders to ensure peace and progress in the market.
He said his new executive will embark on people-friendly policies, and so called for the cooperation and understanding of members of FFDA, urging reconciliation from those aggrieved by the previous leadership. Also, speaking, Secretary, Engr. Ikechukwu Okafor, said the coming of the new executive was timely to provide the needed leadership to end impunity and instability in the market, adding that the new leadership was committed to service.
Speaking after the inauguration of the new executive, Chairman, Alaba Amalgamated Traders Association Council of All Sections, Mr. Felix Nwagu, said the new leadership in FFDA, was a positive development that would check the incessant shut downs, particularly in Fancy and Furniture eason. He recalled that the association had been inundated with petitions before the impeachment of former chairman, Mr. Emeka Mozoba, by aggrieved FFDA members, on insecurity and financial recklessness in the market. “We received several written petitions, oral complaints from aggrieved members bothering on insecurity, harassment and other vices against the immediate past leadership which gave us great concern on the overall security and safety of both traders and customers in the market”.
The association, he said, would check leadership challenges, ensure the safety and security of traders and customers alike. Also, Felix Obalim and Udechukwu Chukwuma, Vice Chairman and Assistant Secretary of FFDA, respectively, were unanimous in hailing the new leadership, as they called for prayers and support to ensure that peace reigned in Alaba Market.
