A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Dr Augustine Uroye has decried Gov. Okowa’s alleged imposition of Comrade Michael Tidi as the party’s candidate for the forthcoming local government election, noting that party’s delegates should be allowed to determine their candidate.

Uroye who was the immediate past Chairman of Warri South Local Government Transition Committee, made this disclosure in a chat with journalists yesterday in Warri.

According to him, the alleged imposition of Comrade Michael Tidi as the party’s candidate for Warri South Local Government election by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, will further destroy the party’s structure in the local government, while noting that the report of a six-man committee set up by Dr. Okowa to review the April 26, 2017 Warri South Constituency 1 Bye-Election attests to the fact that imposition of candidate is tearing the party apart.

Reacting to the alleged instruction given by  Dr. Okowa to Chief Joseph Otumara,  Mr. Vincent Uduaghan Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Shola Daibo of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Omimi Esquire, Political Adviser to the Governor  and Hon. Griftson Omatsuli at a meeting yesterday in Asaba, that they should go and work for Michael Tidi, Uroye said, this imposition will be at the detriment of the riverine area of Warri South Local Government, noting that Warri urban cannot produce the local government Chairman for 12 years.

“The standing gentleman agreement which ceded the Chairmanship position to the riverine area of Warri South Local Government in the forthcoming poll should be respected” Uroye said.
