The importance of rendering help to others

The importance of rendering help to others

It is obvious that a lot of people need help. Are we helping people? If we want God to help us, we must be ready to help others. This will give us license to receive help from God. When we do not do it, it will be difficult to receive help from God.

We must be thinking at all times how many people we can lift up with what we have? You may not have money but with prayers, encouragement and connections, these can be used to help people to stardom. To know that whatever I give to a person as help, it plays a positive role in that person’s life.

It is not about giving money to people as help or impact made to see that people rise or change their lives for better. Everybody cannot rise at the same time, some will rise and some will not. It is not about giving material things to people alone. When you were in position to make people rise, how many of your brothers, sisters, friends, neighbours and even those you do not know did you help? There is need to think seriously about it.

Sometime when we do not receive from God, it is because all our concern is for God to lift us up. The word of God in the book of Deuteronomy 28 indicates how the world is being operated , that is, there are blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience, e. g. verses 1 and 2 “ …all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you because you obey the voice of the Lord your God” Verse 15 says…if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God to observe carefully…that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you” Why the blessing or prayers?

They are meant that if you obey and practice God’s instruction, it shall be well with you but if you do not, the result is the curse. Therefore, how many people have you retarded their progress or drawn back. Who are the people you slandered, blocked their ways to progress.

Some few years ago, a man confessed to me how he attempted blocking his friend from getting a job. In fact they were residing in the same house and unemployed. On a particular day a letter of employment came for his friend. And he received and refused to deliver it to his friend by tearing it. He did the evil because he felt his friend would be better off than him if he got the job.

After a while, he felt so bad and regretted what he did. Exactly a monthly later, another letter came reminding his friend about taking up the job within a week or else he would lose the opportunity. Fortunately, the letter was delivered to his friend when other residents were around. He regretted his previous action and came to his senses that his friend could be of help to him in future. However, his friend was wondering what might have happened to the former letter.

Well, he too later got a job. It was after 22years that he decided to confess his evil deed. Sometimes, it is unnecessary to do evil against our would-be success or good days in the future. What we shall do that we make us regret and painful, we should not do it all. It is my fervent prayer that God in His infinite mercy will render help for us in all our endeavours, in the name of Jesus. Help is very important and people should have it in their minds. Some people think when they have money, they will render help, but when they get the money, they do not help.

Similarly, some will say when they build house, they will help with the house but never practice what they say. These thought that all they possess should be theirs alone without sharing it with people. So they find it difficult to part away with their possession willingly. These are the people crying to God for help. The Bible says in Proverbs 11 verse 25 “ A generous  person will prosper whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” Among Christians and in the Christendom, help is an important thing and it plays a vital role in the lives of Christians.

This is what Jesus came to do in the world and nothing else. He came to help the people of the world so that we can have enough space to live in His Father’s mansions. He saw that people were heading for destruction, surrendered himself and suffered because he wanted to help us. Even in his coming into the world, he pitied the blind, lames, widows, deaf, people that were hungry, etc, proffered solutions to their problems. Jesus was a helper to many people. Therefore, if we need help from Him, we should help people the way Jesus did. The Bible emphasized help in Matthew 5 verse 1 – 11 “Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirsis the kingdom of heaven…”The question is how many people have you helped to take from their present situation? Jesus further emphasized the need to render help in Matthew 25 verse 35-46. Brethren, it is imperative for people to comprehend the principle of help. When this is done, then prayers will be answered. Do not feel reluctant to render help.
