The Wife of the president, Hajiya Aisha Buhari has said that her husband , President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to youths development in the country because it is the bedrock for the socio-economic transformation of Nigeria.
Hajiya Aisha Buhari made this known in Kaduna at the 8th graduation ceremony of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC) youth empowerment and skills acquisition programme .
According to the wife of the president, it is the desire to achieve this that the current administration led by her husband is formulating policies, programmes and projects aimed at addressing youth unemployment in the country.
The wife of the president who was represented by her associate, Hajiya Binta Muazu, said the oath to Nigeria’s greatness lies on how it harnesses the potential of its youths today.
“The topic of empowerment is a very fascinating one especially when you look at the history of Nigeria and what the future holds for the nation. There are lots of opportunities that the nation offers to its youths while at the same time there are many challenges we are faced with today,” she said.
She said as a mother, she is conscious that that if youths have a chance to work and earn a living as full and equal partners in the society, the family will be better strengthened and the nation will be stable.
“I make bold to say that our meaningful contribution to youth development would count positively to the socio economic transformation of this nation,” she said adding that if all make concerted efforts to make the change and invest in skills and work hard, Nigeria can tackle the challenges ahead.
“I have also toed the line through my pet project, Future Assured to impact positively in the lives of Nigerian youths and women regardless of the barriers of religion, social status or geographical location,” she added.
In his remarks, the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Dr. Maikanti Baru commended the KRPC for introducing the youth empowerment programme saying it has brought succor to host communities and the general public and expressed gratitude to the Kaduna State Government for its support.
The Managing Director of KRPC, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar also thanked the government for its support to the success of the prorgamme, saying that the organization was working towards sustaining the skills acquisition in order to reduce unemployment in the country.
Executive director services of the KRPC, Abdullahi Idris explained that the participants were drawn from the company’s immediate host communities and were made to fulfill the required eligibility criteria before going through a six month structured vocational training.
He said the trade for vocational skills include beauty therapy and cosmetology, auto mechanic and diagnosis, electrical installation and rewinding, welding and fabrication, catering and event management, GSM repair technique, carpentry and wood work as well as poultry and livestock management.
