YOLA – The Air Component of Operation Lafiya Dole,one of the operations fighting Boko Haram insurgents in the North East has alerted that one the major constraints hampering its operations now is the excessive rainfall, lightening and thunderstorm within the Sambisa forest and it’s environs.

The Commander of the Wing, Air Commodre Tajjudden Yusuf told the quarterly briefing of the Operation in YOLA Thursday that tick forest occasioned by over grown weeds is equally hampering the operations of the Air Wing as the insurgents hide in the thick forest to avoid been sighted aerially.

Air Commodore Yusuf announced that the Air Wing spent N344,452,630 on the purchase of aviation fuel for its flights of fighter aircraft in countering Boko Haram insurgency in the North Zone.

He maitained that betwwen the monthof April to June 2017 , a sum of N343,700,56 was used for Jet A1 aviation fuel while N1,751,070 was spent on Mo gas for the air crafts maintainance.

On the achievements recorded in the last ninety days under review,the theatre’s medical outreach was accorded to 201 Internally displaced persons,IDPs noting that 133 patients benefitted medical treatment while 68 patients were treated on non surgical cases .

Yusuf added that,40 women at various displaced camps were also screened and treated with cancer ailment explaining that the 82 chibok girls were extracted from Banki to Maiduguri before moving them to presidency in Abuja.

He assured Nigerians that vigorous pursuit of intelligence gathering from other sources with a view to augment the ground troops in the ongoing fight against insurgents.

According to him,on their projection, the Remnant Boko Haram terrorists hiding under trees to operate will be challenged head long not minding the obstruction of the raining weather.

Commander Tajjudden Yusuf stated that new independent operation intelligence methods will be adopted in the theatre for more achievements in the battle against insurgency until success is achieved.
