ABUJA—Former Nigeria’s perma-nent representative to the United Nations, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, has called for a review of the country’s judicial system to ensure sustainable peace and conflict resolution.

Gambari made the call at the fifth international Africa Peace and Conflict Resolution conference on Restorative and Community Resolution Justice: Challenges, Lessons and Prospects, hosted by the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, IPCR, in Abuja, Wednesday.
Gambari, a former UN Special Adviser on the International Compact with Iraq and Other Issues, also called for establishment of early warning mechanism as a means of ending injustice in the country.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyema, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Olusola Enikanolaiye, appreciated the role of IPCR in promoting peace and conflict resolution.
On his part, the Director General of IPCR, Professor Osita Osita, said as an important part of peace building process, restorative justice should focus on healing, building and rebuilding for offenders and victims.
