The affected communities in the local government areas had raised the alarm over the sever of electricity in their areas.
EEDC Head of Communications, Mr. Emeka Eze, however said that the problem was that over 300 youths of Eha-Amufu community in Isi-Uzo LGA destroyed their property in the community and beat up their personnel which was the reason why they threw everybody into darkness since June 8 2017.
Eze said if the company had a way of bypassing Eha-Amufu community to restore electricity to the rest of the communities and councils, it would have done so.
He however noted that there is on-going dialogue with the intervention of Isi-Uzo council and the community leaders, which the company has given the mediators three conditions before it can restore power to the affected communities.
The conditions according to Eze include written undertaking for protection of lives of the staff and properties EEDC; payment for damages of the destroyed properties and an order to produce the youths that allegedly damaged EEDC properties.
He said that once the dialogue is resolved, power would be resolved in the areas.
It was learnt the community residents were tried of outrageous billing amid irregular power supply, among other excesses of the power distribution company in the rural communities which brought about the crisis.
