ENUGU—Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, yesterday commissioned one million liters per day water treatment plant at 82 Division Abakpa cantonment in Enugu.
Buratai recalled that the problem of lack of portable water supply in 82 division dated over 34 years when he was a young soldier serving in the division.
He said it was unfortunate that the situation persisted for such long time, but that with the water treatment plant, the problem was over.
Bruatai also disclosed Army’s proposal to build water project at the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC orientation Camp in Enugu state as part of Nigerian Army’s corporate social responsibilities.

He commended the Nigerian Army engineers for their professionalism and commitment toward making sure that the water treatment plant was completed.
Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, commended the Chief of Army Staff and the GOC of 82 Division, Major General Adamu Abubakar, for their assistance in providing drinking water to the barracks and its environs.
Ugwuanyi lauded the Nigerian Army for the existing peaceful relationship it enjoys with the people of Enugu State and promised to work together with them to further maintain peace and security in the State.
Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Umahi, said that Nigerian Army has done great work by assisting the government of Enugu State state in providing portable water to the Barracks and the people of the state.
