PORT HAR-COURT— PEOPLES Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State,  has described as laughable, the threat by some chieftains of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ahoada East Local Government Area  of the state, to initiate process for the recall of Betty Apiafa representing Abua-Odua /Ahoada East federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

Publicity Secretary of the PDP in the state, Mr Sam Nwonosike, said that the allegations against Apiafi of the PDP, was baseless, adding that the lawmaker who is currently the Chairman House  Committee on Health Institutions has continued to give her constituency adequate representation.

Meanwhile, in a statement yesterday,  a chieftain of the APC in Ahoada East, Mr Blessed Oyagiri,  said that the lawmaker had not made any impact in the constituency, adding that she had allegedly abandoned constituents she should take care of.

He also said that the lawmaker has not allegedly applied funds for constituency projects in the area.

When contacted, Apiafi said she will not want to join issues in the media with opposition party members, stressing that her constituency projects were very visible for all to see.

Nwanosike, who spoke further, said that the state was very proud of the lawmaker, adding that it was one of the reasons she was among those honoured by the  state government during the jubilee anniversary of the state.

He said that the lawmaker had worked tirelessly with the state government to bring peace to Abua Odua council, adding that before Governor Nyesom Wike assumed office the area was held under siege by suspected cultists.

He further lauded the lawmaker for the constituency projects she had attracted to her constituency which  include electrification of 21 communities, roads, portable drinking water.
