Maritime varsity: PANDEF commends Senate, Presidency

The Pan- Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, yesterday, commended the Senate and the Presidency for passing the Bill establishing the Nigerian Maritime University, NMU, Okerenkoko, and constituting a five-member inter-agency committee for the take-off of academic activities in the 2017/2018 session.
The group, in a statement by the Coordinating Secretary and member, Central Working Committee, CWC, Dr. Alfred Mulade, said: “This action demonstrates that the Niger Delta peace process is on course. It would be recalled that the immediate take-off of academic activities in the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, was one of the key demands of PANDEF team that met with President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, on November 1, 2016 wherein a 16-point demand was submitted.”

26 people were, yesterday, burnt to death while 11 others, including three children, sustained serious injuries and burns when their vehicles caught fire in crash that occurred on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
