Await a great change

By Funmi Komolafe

Easter celebrations are over now but   the essence of Easter is alive and remains relevant.

Brethren, we are hopeful hence we have faith. As Christians, one of the ways our Lord Jesus taught us to reach our Father in heaven is through prayer. Many of us have had lessons in prayers and we all pray though our manner of praying may be different.

There is, however, one common factor, prayer in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our authority is found in John 14 vs. 13& 14 . “ And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.   If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it”.

This is the basis of our assurance that our prayers will be answered and that is why we remain hopeful.

However, we are sometimes confronted with situations that make us doubt if God is listening to us.  Some even jump to the wrong conclusion that since God has not answered, it is best to take other steps.

What are those steps?  These are the kinds of steps that make a woman who is battling to keep her home from a strange woman in the life of her husband or the one believing God for children or even the one that has been unable to find a marriage partner begin to go to some herbalists.

For others, in a bid to get quick answers to prayers, they begin to go to so-called prophets who will see  all kinds of ungodly visions telling them to wash by the river and do all sorts of things that are in conflict with the word of God.

How do I know that some of these steps   are not just ungodly but some may actually be demonic?  They could compound that situation that you are trying to set yourself free from.

I’ll share with you the story of two friends.  One  based in the United States and the other based in Nigeria.   The American friend called and asked her friend to send some money to one prophet (name withheld) in Badagry.

The Lagos friend called up this  supposed man of God and told her about the message from the American friend.   The first response of the man was “ how much did she send”. Of course the friend told him.  Then he said, even you, you need to do some deliverance work because….. Before he finished speaking, the lady in Lagos who is a born again Christian in one of the popular Pentecostal churches cut him short and said she was only asked to deliver a message and not to become one of his clients.

Now, what do we learn from this? First, the man is a fake Pastor, who is only interested in making money from his clients. His aim is to get as many clients as possible.

It’s not only men who are fake pastors, women too are.  Recently, a lady came from America and visited a so-called prophetess who told her husband  who had a stroke and is partially paralysed could walk again.

The ‘prophetess’ did not rely on the word of God; she instead gave the woman some black soap and oil that she called anointing oil for the woman to apply on the man.

To date, the man still remained in that condition.  Though the woman paid a lot of money.

We need to be careful.  Who do you choose as your spiritual guardian? Are his or her activities in line with the word of God? But the problem isn’t with those people.  It is with you that allowed your faith to give room to falsehood.

Be not deceived.  There is no challenge that you are going through now that began with you. You are not the first to experience such and you won’t be the last.  The way forward for you is to look at those who have broken through.

Brethren, when confronted with a situation like this, genuine men of God will still insist that you pray and if possible fast. They may assist you by praying along with you or giving you prayer points.  It is God that will speak.  When God speaks, your testimony arrives.

Are you awaiting a change?

Brothers and sisters, you need to be expectant.  You need to look forward to a change of that unpleasant situation that you are confronted with.

I’ll share with you the story of a woman who had been married for over 15 years without children. She had been praying but nothing has happened but she continued to pray.   During one of her visits to London, she bought a lot of baby dresses.  More for  boys than girls.  Then her friend’s daughter asked her “ aunty, I see you buying baby dresses but I can’t see the baby”.  Aunty told her the babies would come.  She bought those dresses and began to pray saying“  God said I should be fruitful and multiply, babies from my own bodies will wear these clothes.  I will not give them to anybody”.

Brethren, it wasn’t long that she had a breakthrough and brought forth a son.

Our sister took a step of faith that many of us do not do.  We fail to take steps of faith because our friends may mock us.

She also acted in accordance with the word of God in Mark 11 vs. 23  “ For  verily I say unto you, That  whosoever shall say unto this  mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt  in his heart,  but shall  believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever    he saith”.

We have a further  assurance in verse 24 “ Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them”.

I don’t know in which area of life you are failing but believe that God  is capable of turning that failure to success.

You have a duty to ask for God’s intervention.  When he intervenes, you will experience a great change and your story will change for the better.

Remember the Shunammite woman and her encounter with Elisha.  Here was a woman who had been barren  and had accepted her faith that she would die barren but one day she had an encounter with God.   This season, by the grace of God, you will have an encounter with God and your story will change.   That unpleasant situation will change to a pleasant one that nobody can ignore.

Find time to read up her story in 2nd Kings 4 vs. 8 to 18.    You’ll find that the woman doubted herself  just as some us are having doubts about the intervention of God but see  what happened to her in verses 17 and 18  “ And he (Elisha) said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid. And the woman conceived, and bare a son a that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life”.

I pray that this season,  you will hear the still small voice and your story will change in Jesus name.

Expect a change and it will happen sooner than thou think in Jesus name.

Do have a blessed week.
