Police operatives in Plateau State, yesterday, arraigned a 26-year-old woman, Nantet Tongshak, in a Jos chief magistrate’s court over alleged links to a gang of thieves.

Tongshak resides at Gold and Base, Rayfield, Jos.

The Police Prosecutor, Corporal Thomas Amuku, told the court that the police arrested the defendant after receiving information that she and one Lawrence Onoja of Dogon Dutse had been robbing and terrorising members of the public.

Amuku said that the defendant was arrested at the residence of Onoja, who is said to be her boyfriend, but now at large.

The prosecutor said a search was conducted in the house and a locally-made pistol and one live cartridge were found.

He said that the defendant confessed that the gun belonged to Onoja, but denied engaging in any criminal acts.

Magistrate Jovita Binjin admitted the defendant to N50,000 bail and a surety in like sum.

The magistrate adjourned the matter till Match 28, for hearing.
