Mortuary attendant remanded  in prison for beheading corpse

Ibadan—An Iyaganku magistrate’s court, sitting in Ibadan, has remanded a 57-year-old mortuary attendant, Muritala Raimi, who works at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, in Agodi Prison, for allegedly stealing a human skull from his workplace.

The accused was arraigned on a two-count charge of stealing and misconduct.

Vanguard gathered that the accused was arrested after he had allegedly decapitated the remains of an unknown corpse.

He was said to have concealed the head in a bag and when he was caught, attempted to run away. He was arrested by the police from Yemetu Police Station, Ibadan.

When he appeared before Magistrate Akanni Monsurat in Court 4, he pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.

Though the court granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, and that one of the sureties must be a member of his family, the accused could not meet the cout’s bail conditions.
