Ganduje

KANO—Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, yesterday, described the three mega cities initiated and completed by his immediate predecessor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, as a liability on his administration.
In a swift reaction, the former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Rabiu Bichi, who spoke on behalf of the ex-governor, dismissed Ganduje’s outburst as politically motivated to hoodwink members of the public.

Bichi said: “Ninety percent of the estates have been bought over by the public, several other top politicians own houses in the mega cities. How does that constitute a fraud?
“Ganduje play politics with developmental issues and I am little surprised because he sees it as an escape route from under performance.”
He claimed that the refusal of Ganduje to provide water and electricity to the mega cities was responsible for the ghost city status, and it required N90 million to fix.
However, Ganduje who spoke in Kano while conducting a team of editors round the projects, claimed that the multi-billion naira estate commi-ssioned over three years ago attracted no buyers.
The cities— Kwankwasiyya, Amana and Bandirawo— were conceived by Kwan-kwaso’s administration to tackle the housing deficit and decongest the city.
Ganduje lamented that aside the fact that no buyers had expressed interest because of the exorbitant price, Kwankwaso left unpaid N3.6 billion owed to contractors.
