ABAKALIKI—THE 7th edition of the annual lecture series on “Good Governance Lecture” of former Secretary-General of Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, will hold today, in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.
The event will take place at Akanu Ibiam International Conference Centre, Abakaliki.
According to organizers, the programme, with the theme,”Agriculture and Good Governance, Securing Our Future,” will be chaired by President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, while the Orator of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, Prof. Egwu U. Egwu, will be the keynote speaker.
Coordinator of the lecture series, Johnson Ogbonna, who disclosed this while briefing journalists in Abakaliki, yesterday, said the event was an annual ritual being held in honour of Anyaoku, whose numerous achievements while serving as a Commonwealth head were outstanding.
Ogbonna said the 6th edition held last year, 2016, in Port Harcourt, River State, like other editions, was a huge success, adding that proper arrangement had been concluded for this year’s Edition.
According to him, “Chief Emeka Anyaoku is one of Africa’s best export brands. An outstanding brand of exceptional high quality not only because he is the first African to have attained the position of Commonwealth Secretary-General, but also for repositioning a major international organization such as Commonwealth for many years through focused diligent, quiet but persistent diplomacy.
With a theme,”Agriculture and Good Governance, Securing Our Future,” the coordinator noted that the lecture would undertake a constructive general review of the policies geared towards Agriculture, good governance and leadership in Nigeria.
