3 arrested over abduction, killing of Makurdi Varsity lecturer

LOKOJA—Kogi State Police Command have arrested three suspects in connection with the kidnapping and killing of a lecturer of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Mrs Christiana Agbulu, who was abducted November 26, last year.

The Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya, who disclosed this yesterday in Lokoja, said the suspects were arrested in their hideout, Tuesday.

Aya, who revealed that the handset of the murdered lecturer was found with the suspects, said the suspects are assisting the police and would soon be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

Emotions were high as the decomposing body of Mrs Agbulu was found at the outskirts of Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, Tuesday evening, by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

Christiana Agbulu, Lecturer 1, Biological Sciences, Federal University of Agriculture, Markudi, Benue State, was declared missing between Benue and Kogi, on November 26.

Her decomposing body was exhumed from a shallow grave near a NEPA installation along Lokoja-Abuja Road.

Christiana was reportedly on a visit to her friend when the incident occurred.

Vanguard gathered that the kidnappers had used the victims cell phone to demand N150,000 ransom to be paid into the victims account immediately after her abduction.

The gang leader was identified while trying to use the victim’s ATM card to make withdrawal.

It was further revealed that the lecturer was raped before she was killed.
