States that are interested should establish ranches as is obtainable in developed climes. Businessmen pay for their shops. Why should federal government usurp people’sland to grow individual businesses. They should buy land and conduct their business in a confinement. The idea to create reserves in all council areas will plunge the country into a perpetual war. The menace of the herdsmen,killing,raping,destruction of farmland and properties will then spiral out of control. The National Assembly should throw out any bill seeking to create grazing reserves nationwide. This is a manifestation of Buhari’s agreement with the Fulani to support his electioneering campaigns in the days leading to the 2015 general election”

Tabloidisation, media lynching of Saraki
Prof. Ornstein has not been far from the mind of this writer since the trial of Senator Bukola Saraki began. For it was Prof. Ornstein who propounded the theory that the US Congress suffers from low ratings based on changes in the electronic and print media which have led to a greater emphasis on negative and unwarranted sensationalisation of happenings inside the hallowed chambers of the U.S. Congress, which he termed “tabloidisation”. Senator Bukola Saraki is the President of the Nigerian Senate and the tabloidisation of his trial derives from the exalted position he holds!

Saraki, the god of Kwara politics, is on the ropes. And he now sees clearly the inhumanity of gods. When candidness or even pretensions to it is traded in the public, something is let out. We know Saraki is politically shrewd , he has been constituting governments in Kwara effortlessly. But we didn’t know he can write a book of lamentations. Footballers don’t cry when shoved, because pushing and shoving, bad as they are , are now part of the game. Saraki can moan but nothing that has happened is culturally perverse.
Marriage is not a bed of roses
We live at a time and in a country where time-honoured clichés and sayings are being partly or totally debunked. For example, “the patient dog eats the fattest bone,” but many a time in Nigeria the patient dog meets an empty plate. At a seminar in a foremost hotel in Abuja, lunch was a buffet and participants were going table by table. My table was among the last and when I saw some people from my table shunting, I was disappointed, but by the time we got there, I understood why.
