Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of an Ikeja High court was on Thursday told that guns, charms and other weapons were recovered from those charged for alleged sodomy against some women accused of stealing pepper at an Ejigbo market, a surburb of Lagos.

A lady in a high brow catholic parish died recently. She was only 48. Yet at that relatively young age, she had put herself in different positions of service within the church that almost everybody—the old, the young, the rich, the poor, the cleric and the laity—remembered her. And like Lydia in the Holy Book, almost everybody had good things to say concerning her. As she was in the church, so she was at home and with close friends. She had made herself so relevant in people’s lives that many remembered one kind deed, one kind gesture or the other. Hers was a life that was short but impactful.

What he is doing is to help stop this unnecessary expenditure that is incurred by aspirants, where people will sell their houses in the name of elections and by the end of the day, it becomes a do or die affair. So this consultation will help to curb the do or die politics. For the first time in this country, a governor is coming out to organize a talk where the agenda of his administration is discussed and the future of the next administration was the focus.

His associates see him as the Governor-Elect of Kogi State. Party officials see him as the Deputy-Governor Elect. Meanwhile, the people of Ikeja Federal Constituency, Lagos State see him as their representative in the House of Representatives. Now Rep. James Faleke two-term chairman of Ikeja local government area, two-term member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency must make a choice between now and next Wednesday when the inauguration of the new governor of Kogi State takes place on the hat he must continue to wear.

The motion for his impeachment was moved while he was still on seat and he told the mover of the motion to reel out the names of the signatories to the impeachment notice. Seventeen lawmakers signed up to impeach him and he stands impeached. A new Speaker in my humble self was elected to lead the House. I am the authentic Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly.

I do not subscribe to the fact that we have two speakers. The House is under one leadership and I remain the Speaker of the House. The putsch by some members of the House against the leadership of the House was unfortunate and we will soon get over it. We are one big family and will come out stronger. We had been enjoying peace in the House until some external forces infiltrated our ranks.

So many people have been frustrated in life, marriages, families, business and careers because of a mistake they made in the past. Thus, they say to themselves that they can never make it in life. They do not see themselves any better than the mistake they have made. The truth of it all is that the mistake is nothing compared to who you really are and can be tomorrow. Though your now may be small yet your latter end shall greatly increase.

POWER, Works and Housing Minister, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), yesterday, decried the age-long lip service Nigerian governments had paid to diversification of the country’s economy from crude oil, noting that the mistake has caught up with Nigeria following the prevailing slump in crude oil prices. Theater Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Hassan Umoru has disclosed that Nigerian troops have killed 63 Boko Haram terrorists and intercepted suicide bombers within this week alone. Gen Umoru stated this just as he announced that during the operation “our troops came in contact with Boko Haram terrorists at Kudiye and Mijigete where 370 hostages were rescued and brought to IDP camp in Dikwa and 3 rifles and 41 motorcycles were destroyed.”

THE Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Peter Akpatason, have warned the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha not to compound the unemployment problems in the country with his alleged disengagement of 3,000 workers from the state. The lawmaker, a former president of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, said the action would increase youth restiveness, adding that sacking 3,000 workers would directly or indirectly affect about 30,000 people who are dependants of the workers.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode with the mantra “Itesiwaju Eko lo je wa logun.” (We are committed to ensuring progress of Lagos), during his electioneering campaign did promised residents of better welfare package and improved economy if elected. One of such promises is “Light Up Lagos Project,” an initiative aimed at making the street lights work again and better in every nook and crannies of the state.

The fear of contracting the deadly Lasaa fever disease has led to hike in the prices of rats and pets’ killer drugs by manufacturers in Lagos. Investigation by Saturday Vanguard revealed that the hike became necessary following high demands from the public. The prices have gone up by at least 50 percent. A mouse glue board that formerly cost N100 is now sold for N150. While three rat poison that used to sell for N50 now cost N150.

At 80, one expects a person to be on marital holiday, to be enjoying the fruits of his labour but this is not the case with Isiaka Oladipupo, an octogenarian who for the first time in his life time got married to a 70 year- old woman Sunbo Olanrewaju. Isiaka met his heartthrob about two years ago and today, they are together in a matrimony though in an uncompleted building at Bayeku, Ikorodu.
