Former Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Alh. Lawal Pedro (SAN) has advised Nigerians especially Muslims towards positive change of attitude to restore the lost glory of Nigeria in the coming year, 2017; adding that the new board members of Lagos State Secretariat Mosque will work towards improving not only in the contents of sermons and structure of the mosque but also educating both Muslims and Christians in Nigeria.
Pedro gave this charge during the inauguration of Board of Trustees, BoT of the Lagos State Secretariat Mosque, Alausa, Ikeja at the Multi Purpose hall of the Mosque.
“As we all know, BOT is the soul of any organisation. Hence, we will be at full gear as fast as the management (spiritually and in social content) of the mosque is concerned. We will work towards improving not only in the contents of our sermons and structure of the mosque but also educating both Muslims and Christians in Nigeria. We will also work on correcting the misconception about Islam through our various policies and programmes’’.
Chairman, Lagos State Secretariat Muslim Community, Alh. Saheed Animasahun, stated that the inauguration of Board of Trustees was inevitable in order to have a structured organization. “This is one of our achievements during my tenure, having a BOT. The mosque must be well structured and that is why we are inaugurating a BOT. There are certain legal issues that can’t be decided except by the BOT. We have men and women of integrity and honesty whom will be able to guide and also make policies that will better the lives of the members of this great Mosque’’.
The Imam of the Mosque, Alh. Abdul-Gafar admonished the BoT members on ‘Trust’ quoting from the Qu’ran 33 verse 72; 46 verse 16; 8 verse 27; 28 verse 77. He urged them to remain focussed and never to betray the confidence reposed in them.
