BENIN—EDO State indigenes in the United Kingdom, UK, have congratulated the new Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, for his successful ascension to the throne.

The group expressed confidence that with the emergence of the new Oba and incoming governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the state was set to witness more progress, noting that the outgoing administration of governor Adams Oshiomhole laid the foundation for a greater Edo State.

Chairman, Conservative Commonwealth Association, Romford Constituency, UK, Mrs. Gloria Adagbon, congratulated the newly installed monarch, saying, “His developmental agenda stands him out as a visionary leader.”

In a statement, she expressed confidence in the Oba and also felicitated with Edo people for having an Oba ready to address the key challenges of the state even as the governor-elect, Mr. Obaseki had earlier outlined his blueprints which she said correlated with that of Oba Ewuare II.

She said: “It must be noted that it is not too often that you have a new Oba and a new governor, both focusing on a similar agenda for development.”
