…I have no faction – Okpozo

ASABA—THE crisis rocking All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State took a dangerous twist, yesterday, as the Olorogun O’Tega Emerhor faction accused the other faction of placing charms at the entrance to the party’s secretariat in Asaba, the state capital.

A meeting scheduled by the Prophet Jones Erue -led State Executive Council for 10a.m., at the secretariat, yesterday, however,  held at 2p.m., after members of the state executive committee defied what they described as demonic act, by destroying the suspected charms.

When Vanguard got to the secretariat, the gate was locked with a padlock painted red, while a calabash containing eggs, white native chalk tied with red pieces of cloth, were placed at the entrance perhaps to scare the Erue faction from entering the secretariat.

Contacted, a leader of the party in the state who is believed to be leading the other faction (names withheld) , said, “I have nothing to say, I am not there, so I don’t know what you are talking about.”

Speaking to newsmen, acting Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state, Prince Michael Chinye said, that the fetish object was removed and “We went ahead with the meeting because the object is not scientific.

“When we came this morning (yesterday) for our meeting, we saw a fetish object tied to the gate. But because we believe in the efficacy of science, we threw the fetish object away and proceeded to hold the meeting. We are not afraid of any such distractions because our mandate is authentic.”

Meanwhile, Senator Spanner Okpozo had in a chat with Vanguard, said he has no faction, insisting that he is a leader of the party in the state.

Okpozo also denied sending people to attack the party’s secretariat in Asaba under any guise and expressed his readiness to honour the invitation of the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
