WARRI—THE Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS, Delta, yesterday, said that it had, in conjunction with the Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, arrested another suspected member of Niger Delta Avengers, NDA.
Parading the suspect, Abraham Suru, a.k.a Gabon, at the Warri Naval Base, Delta State, Commodore Joseph Dzunve, Commander, NNS Delta, described him as a, “Notorious gang leader, who has, since 2011, been involved in pipeline vandalism, piracy, attacks on ships, illegal bunkering and currently a suspected member of Niger Delta Avengers.”
Suru, who reportedly hails from Ondo State and caught around Sapele, Delta State, owned up to being involved in oil assets destruction, but denied being an NDA member.
“I was introduced into attacking oil assets by late Alfa Polo of Opia community, in Dibi locality of Warri North Local Government Area, Delta State. He said their youths were not being carried along by oil companies in their area and he needed me to help attack the companies.
“After Alfa Polo died in a motor accident, I was contacted by Tony Felix to join their team because they knew I was capable of blowing up oil facilities. I have only been involved in two attacks in Dibi in 2011. I am not a member of Niger Delta Avengers,” he said.
