Police arrest over 60 criminals in Benue
It was, indeed, two weeks of unusual operation and clampdown on criminals and criminality by officers and men of the Benue state Police command heralding Mr. Bashir Makama, as the new Police Commissioner in the state. The period saw the re-awakening of the service zeal and orientation of the average Policeman in the State leading to intensive patrols and raids of criminal hideouts in the State, resulting in the arrest of over 60 suspected armed robbers, kidnap suspects and cultists, including notorious ones with the recovery of various calibre of firearms, hundreds of ammunition, six stolen vehicles and three motorcycles.
Naira suffers further loss against dollar
The Naira on Friday suffered further loss against the dollar at the parallel market as it lost one point to the U.S. currency, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Dealers of Lagos illegal oil wells sold diesel for N100 per litre
Last week, the Lagos state police command made a startling discovery of some wells in Ilasamaja area of Lagos where diesel, instead of water was drawn out and sold at ridiculously low price. While the various fuel stations were selling the product at between N180.00 and N200.00 per litre, it was being sold in this area at N100.00 per litre. It was suspected that there were underground pipes that connected the wells to the pipes of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC from where the petroleum product was being siphoned.
