ENUGU— Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, yesterday, called on residents of the state not to erect structures on waterways to avoid the incidence of flood or erosion caused by blockage.

Governor Ugwuanyi made the call while inspecting the erosion site along Okigwe old federal road by Ugwuleshi Community in Awgu Local Government Area of the state, which washed out the road culvert because of blockage caused by illegal erection of fences down the stream.

The governor, who frowned at the cause of the erosion and the threat it posed to the people of the community and its environs, promised that his administration would in spite of the present economic challenges, reconstruct the culvert not minding that it is a federal government project.
