Roadside foods: For good or for bad?
As early as 5 am every morning, Iya Lati is up for the day’s business. The business of attending to the “stomach infrastructure” of her customers by cooking of rice, beans, plantain and stew in addition to two or three other local delicacies. By 6.30 am She is ready to hit the motor park where her numerous customers are already waiting for her. Indeed, Iya Lati, is one of the hundreds of thousands of women who toil day and night to support their families by hawking foods on the streets of major cities across the country. From Lagos to Abuja, Port-Harcourt to Kaduna and Enugu to Ibadan, food vendors have taken over the streets. In fact, following the harsh economic reality that Nigerians are currently faced with, the business is booming.
My family doesn’t like him
My guy gets into trouble a lot and has been in trouble a couple of times with the police but only arrested once and receive a reprimand. I started speaking to him in November last year after my ex and I split up after a particularly rough break-up and things progressed from there. He asked me out a few times but I said that I couldn’t. I wanted to but I knew I wasn’t ready to trust anyone again after just coming out of a relationship.
Our love life is a disaster
I was happily married for 20 years. Everyone thought I had the perfect relationship. My husband and I thought so too in all but one respect. We were never able to consummate our marriage and that affected our marriage. We eventually moved on. My husband even did well to have stayed with me for that long. I now have a new partner and there is so much passion but sadly, we have not been able to have full intercourse. He has a lot of emotional baggage and I am ashamed to own up to my past problems.
How to improve your general well-being
Give yourself a general review of the day’s activities before you go to bed. “It’s the most valuable thing you can do for your emotional well-being,” says Jane Alexander, health expert and author of The Overload Solution. Each night, before you sleep, try to think of 10 events or actions that happened during the day for which you’re grateful. They could be as simple as a visitor arriving on time, or a hug from your child.
Daughter who took care of her dad’s love-child!
When Bukky’s husband died suddenly of a heart attack in his early 60s, she was inconsolable. They’d been inseparable for decades, and the obituary she put in the papers would draw tears from a sadist’s eyes. She cut a pitiable figure as her husband laid in state in the expensive casket she had insisted be bought. As sympathizers filed past the corpse, a little boy of about ten stood rooted to the spot, gazing with the morbid fascination children have for the dead. The widow was now curious… “Whose child is that?”
The immortality of racism
Zong was in 1781. Blacks were goods. But long after, long after that practice of decanting blacks into the sea for commercial reasons, blacks are still dispensable. Disposables. Perhaps now, nuisance. The police in America are well trained . But training often polishes the brain and not the heart. Many liberal philosophers are racists. Everywhere, blacks are considered poorly endowed mentally, and prone to uncontrolled emotions. Congenitally stupid. White women have borne crushing oppression for ages. But it hasn’t rendered them insensate to racial prejudice. Black males are their peevish brutes. So white policemen can adjudge them criminal minds. And shoot them. The owners of the slave ship Zong drowned their goods.
Champions for change, African youths take family planning to next level
In 2012, Nigerian leaders and leaders from 192 other countries around the world made the famous Family Planning 2020 Commitment.
Only N/D elements with ulterior motives are fighting Buhari- High Chief Loyibo
Well, what I can say as the National Coordinator of the CNDE, is that we are both surprised and not too surprised over the recent spike in oil facility attacks. We are not surprised because there are certain things that the government needed to provide in the Niger Delta but it has not done so up till this moment. These are the issues that gave birth to the Presidential Amnesty Programme. We are surprised that instead of addressing those germane issues the government merely tried to appease some people and allow the issues to fester.
Your destiny can change
Too many people are today being deceived that their future is hopeless and that nothing good can come out of it. They have been lied to by satan that change is not possible. Some believe this lie or their present situation because probably they have tried certain things for years and yet no positive change has occurred. Thus, they have concluded that their lives can never be better. God has sent me to you today to let you know that His thoughts concerning you is of peace and not of evil and to give you an expected glorious end, a future and a hope (Jer. 29:11). God did not create you with a destiny that is useless. God is a glorious God. Everything He does is wonderful. This is why I know that your life is planned with great wonders waiting to happen. Don’t believe the lie that your present status is your destiny. It is not true. It can be changed. You can change it.
