Ambode, don, others tutor varsity girls on leadership
WHILE agitations for the
inclusion of more women in leadership both in tertiary institutions of learning and national politics towers, female folks have been advised to place premium on becoming transformative leaders rather than mere occupants of leadership positions when they eventually do.
This came from the wife of the governor of Lagos State, Mrs Bolanle Ambode; former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs Sarah Adebisi-Sosan; Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, Prof.Akin Ibidapo-Obe; Mrs Omowunmi Asubiaro-Dada, Lead, V4C; and Dr.Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, Founding Director, Women Advocates Research and Documentation Centre, WARDC, at the opening of a 3-day retreat on transformative leadership held in Lagos by WARDC with support from Voices 4 Change/UK AID for female undergraduates of tertiary institutions in Lagos State.
Describing a transformative leader as one who is willing to making radical change and better the lives of the masses, the quintet lamented that such leaders were presently scarce in contemporary Nigerian society; hence the need to groom adolescent girls to show better examples even as they grow into motherhood.
