Osazuwa, Ukoama yet to get ticket to Brazil

With only a few hours to departure of the Nigerian delegate to the Rio 2016 Olympics, some of the athletes who qualified to represent the country are yet to get their air ticket.

The Sports ministry promised that by Wednesday July 27 all athletes will get their ticket. This was in the wake of the infamous social media campaign by some of the athletes for funds. However, as at yesterday foreign-based athletes like Uhunoma Naomi Osazuwa who is chasing heptathlon medals and 400m hurdler Miles Ukaoma were still waiting for Abuja High Performance director, Angie Taylor who is in charge of the foreign-based athletes to deliver their tickets.

“I haven’t got my ticket yet. I am still waiting for Angie Taylor who promised to get back to me before Friday night and this is Saturday evening, I have not heard from her yet,” said one of the athletes.

However athletes like Gloria Asumnu who are also in the USA have gotten theirs and will likely arrive Rio on August 1 with the rest of the Nigerian team leaving from Lagos.
