The executive board of the Nigeria Modern Pentathlon Federation has made Chief Obiegbunam Kelvin Chiedozie as one of its Patrons. His investiture which took place at the Nigeria Olympic Committee Secretariat last Friday was carried out by the President of the federation, Chief Jonathan Nnaji.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Chiedozie said he was challenged and humbled by the honour done him by the federation, pledging to contribute his quota towards the development of the sport, which he described as “one of the oldest and most important Olympic sport,” although he acknowledged the sport was still relatively new in Nigeria.
The new patron called on corporate bodies to identify with the sport and make it grow. Said he, “Let us all support an initiative like this in the interest of the nation and the coming generation of athletes to come.”
