In a statement by Mr. Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesman, President Buhari described the departed politician, administrator and technocrat, as an expert whose contributions to the development of the security architecture of Nigeria would remain indelible, adding that others carried on where he left off.

The President recalled that the deceased who apart from being a former Federal Commissioner of Internal Affairs was also a boss of the National Security Organization (NSO), played frontline roles in the activities leading to the eventual return and enthronement of democracy in the country.

He called on the family members, friends and associates of the departed community leader who held the Marafan Sokoto traditional title to take solace in the fact that the late Umaru Shinkafi played the parts assigned to him diligently, conscientiously and patriotically.

While praying Almighty Allah to grant Shinkafi’s soul eternal rest, president Buhari also enjoined Nigerians to emulate the good virtues that he left behind.
