FADAMA to build over 44-km roads in Anambra to help farmers

Anambra Project Coordinator of FADAMA III, Mr Chuks Egbueh, said on Thursday that the project would soon embark on the construction of 44 kilometres access roads across the state. Egbueh, who disclosed this in Awka in an interview with newsmen, said this would enable farmers to transport their produce to urban areas.

He also said that the project had been providing seedlings, pest control, and advisory services and training agronomy to farmers in the state. “We are building over 44 kilometres of access roads cutting across over 13 communities to enable farmers move their produce from the hinterland to urban areas with ease.

“We want to assist about 5,000 farmers in getting seedlings that best fit their respective soils. “Also, we engage farmers in training agronomy for improved yields, provide quality pests control and offering them advisory services, “ he said.

Egbueh said that farmers had been informed of already market for their produce which includes perishable yields. “We have notified farmers not to worry any more about how to market their produce because we have signed an agreement with a bulk buyer at a favourable price to farmers for their perishable and non-perishable yields,“ he said.
