Orodje of Okpe, Borgu monarch partner for national unity

The Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Orhue I, has promised to collaborate with the Emir of Borgu, HRM Alhaji Mohammed Toro, Kitoro iv, to assist government in achieving unity across Nigeria.

The monarch disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the Emir of Borgu to his palace in Orerokpe, headquarters of Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State.

Speaking on the occasion, Alhaji  Toro commended the Orodje and his Council of Chiefs for their warm reception, just  as he condoled with the Okpe monarch on  the death of his successor, HRM Orhoro I, whom he described as his father.

Toro said that he deemed it fit to seek the royal blessings of Orhue I to pilot his emirate, adding that his visit also was geared toward ensuring the unity of the country in the interest of the people. He poined out that a responsibility was placed in the hands of traditional rulers to resolve and proffer solutions to differences rather than build walls.

He called on all Nigerians to support the present administration and see themselves as one people.

In his welcome speech, the Orodje of Okpe described the Emir of Borgu as a friendly, detribalized man and a true Nigerian that believes in the unity of his country.

He expressed delight at the Emir’s visit to his kingdom, noting that their collaboration was not necessarily because of his relationship with his predecessor but because they have something in common, so, there was the need to work together to move Nigeria forward.

He advised the visiting monarch not to associate himself with any political party, but see everybody as his child and pray that a better candidate wins. He urged the Emir to relate with all openly, as by so doing, he will reign longer than his late father.
