UMUAHIA—ABIA State House Assembly, weekend, rejected planned mapping out land for cattle grazing in the state, declaring that Abia had no land for grazing, even as it condemned the spate of insecurity in the country compounded by “senseless, mindless and wicked terrorists masquerading as herdsmen.”
Speaking through the deputy speaker, Cosmos Ndukwe on the activities of the law makers in the last one year, the House said it had partnered with the executive to fight insecurity in the state.
Ndukwe, who is also the House Committee Chairman on Information, explained that despite the fact the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, did not have overwhelming majority, the House had been conducting its activities in harmony because members avoided “legislative rascality.
“Whatever opposition that exists in the House is merely a creation of academics. In the real sense of it, we are held together by a cardinal objective to develop Abia and Abians in all spheres of human life”, he said.
Ndukwe said: “Without mincing words, I will state without fear of contradiction that we stand with the governor on his statement that Abia State has no lands to be designated as grazing reserves.”
