The soldiers also stopped Adieze’s mother, who was earlier kidnapped, but released by the kidnappers to source ransom from handing over about N300, 000 for the release of her son.

Vanguard gathered that the soldiers, who were engaged in a shoot-out with the gang after rescuing the victim, set the house where the boy was kept ablaze.

A source at 144 Battalion, who described the release of the victim and eventual stopping of the mother from paying the ransom to the kidnappers as “divine intervention,” disclosed that the kidnappers had abducted Mrs. Adieze, a retired civil servant, married to Mr. Adieze of Umueteghe village in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South council area and her only son in front of their residence on her way back from a traditional marriage.
