OPERATORS in the Information Communication Technology, (ICT), industry, have commenced moves to push for a bill on digital rights and freedom with a view to creating a robust ICT industry in Nigeria.

Speaking at this year’s edition of Internet Freedom Forum, Mr. Nani Jansen, Legal Director,  Media Legal Defense Initiative, a Non-Governmental Organization said the bill would further boost ICT operation  in the industry.

Jansen explained that the role of intermediaries (third party content) played in monitoring content published online could not be over emphasized when the bill was finally passed into law.

Speaking on the proposed ICT legislation, the Vice-Chairman, House Committee on Telecommunications, Emeka Ujam lauded  the review of the Digital Rights and Freedom Bill and promised to ensure the bill  got the attention it deserves before the end of the year.
