BENIN—EXECUTIVE Director of Victims Support Fund recently set up by the Federal Government to restore livelihood and set the background for reconciliation and peace building among victims of the Boko Haram insurgency in the North- East region of the country, Prof. Sunday Ochochue, has disclosed that the body had spent over N200 million in the provision of school books, kits and payment of voluntary teachers and workers in Edo State IDP camp.

Prof. Ochochue spoke at the International Christian Centre Mission in Ohogua, Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the state, where the victims were quartered when Gen. T. Y. Danjuma Foundation visited the camp.

He listed the provisions of school sandals, school bags, uniforms, the empowerment of some of the women in the camp with sewing machines as some of the assistance rendered to address vulnerabilities related to the insurgency.

While expressing gratitude to the Edo State Government for its support to the IDP camp in the state, he said that no fewer than 20, 000 school children and 1,300 others have been identified by the Victims Support Fund in the state.

He appealed to the management of the IDP centre to work assiduously with the school children just as he also advised the children to make good use of the items given to them judiciously.

Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Jemitola Anena, thanked God for the discovering of the children, adding that God will one day spring a surprise with the defeat of Boko- Haram.
